About ELFS FARM
A small cadre of unique individuals decided that the endangered and very rare North country Elf needed their own place. A distant cousin to the better known elves, the taller, more slender and certainly much better looking North country Elf has almost vanished into fable.
ELFS FARM was inspired to give these shy, reclusive beings a place to be raised and a place to earn their keep. Fortunately, elves have permanent employment at Santa's North Pole (only about 30 miles from ELFS FARM). Their cousins - the ELFS are only called in by Santa for special assignments and therefore unemployment has spiked in the last few years.
One thing ELFS have always been famous for in the fairy world is their Apple Cider. It is a known fact that Santa prefers Elf made Apple cider with his cookies - besides he is lactose intolerant!
During the off season Santa Claus and all the elves prefer to drink the ELFS apple cider because of it's health effects, natural infusion of vitamins (36 apples in every gallon) and the one item it has that no other cider has - ELF LOVE!
Anyway, back to the point (ELFS can be very distracting) ELFS FARM is where north country ELFS can be raised, along with the chickens, cabbage, corn and other growing stuff. Old ELFS can get older and fatter and pass their knowledge of cider making down to the younger generation. Most importantly it has provided a place and purpose for many Elfs that had lost their way.
When you come and visit, please do not expect to see an ELF. Most adult ELFS only come out at twilight. Younger ELFS are full of energy and move extremely quickly. You may see a buzz or a blur out of the corner of your eye. Please, do not point or yell or do anything to startle or call attention to this ELF! Remember, they are extremely shy, reclusive and after all you are visiting their home.
ELF UNION Started
The Adirondack chapter of ELFS has petitioned for and received permission to start the ELFS Cider Union otherwise know as Local 7. This chapter has been developed in cooperation with ELFS Farm Winery and Cider Mill to bring about a better understanding of employment and living conditions of the North Country and Adirondack elf population.
Due to the unique cultural and historical backgrounds of elfs, they need to reside at the same locale as where they work. They are closely tied to the land they choose to habitat. This need has never really been understood by the general population. Noted European Elf anthropologist Ivana B. Real, PhD, Mall, BaE stated that the formation of Local 7 was the greatest step forward in Elf - human relations since they emigrated to the United States over three hundred years ago.
Dr. Real also noted that the Elfs have been an underserved population and have not received the services their culture needs to be fully contributing members of society. By forming an alliance and now Local 7, ELFS Farm is working towards it's goal of 100% employment of Elfs. In addition Elfs Farm Winery is assuming control of the Elfs pension plan (with full elf society backing). An audit determined that the pension plan (previously administered by a defunct corporation) had been underfunded by 85%. This may have a serious impact on the retirement of many of the older elfs. The elfs are the second population in the United States to be exempt from the Social Security Retirement Plan. As such they are responsible for the welfare and retirement of all other United States elfs.
Due to their shy and reclusive nature elfs are historically under represented by the US Census. Therefore there are no accurate numbers to their true US population. Elfs Farm which has agreed to employ and house all elfs is concerned about this lack of census data and the underfunded retirement plan. They are appealing to all concerned citizens to drink plenty of Elf cider. This consumption will help close the pension liability, improve the unemployment of all elfs and help make Local 7 a success. We will strive to communicate our successes with you as they occur.
ELFS FARM ELFS Start Charity
- The head elf insisted that all Elfs give back to society, since they are so fortunate to have a home. Therefore, 10 percent of all ELFS FARM profits will be donated to a fund for autism.
- A wishing well will be set up in the parking lot of ELFS FARM for donations to the Children's programs.
- The head elf has stated that perhaps one miracle a year can occur for a child due to these donations. He noted in his press conference that some people do not believe in miracles - then again he wryly noted that many people have never seen an ELF or for that matter he asked - who has ever seen air?
